Several mythical monsters do that. They go after sheep, cows and occasionally humans near the shore line. Like the Haullepén of Chilé, and the La Velue “shaggy beast” of France. Both will use the river to hunt from and retreat to. Skunk apes are another.
Haullepén has the body of a large sheep, head of a calf and carnivores teeth of a wolf. Powerful, fierce and shy it will eat most anything and has been known to mount female cows and sheep producing twisted hybrids.
La Velue has a giant snake’s head, round green furred body armed with deadly spikes. Its feet are like a tortoise and a serpent’s tail very strong weapon. Been most active in La Ferté-Barnard.
