To quote one of my favourite Night Vale outros, “death is only the end if you think the story is about you.”

I’ve been sticking to comics most of my life. And now I’ve got justification for having done so :-)

I figure history would make you unhappy because of all the unhappy events in it. You might feel a little relief that you could have lived in a worse setting, but you won’t feel better overall.

The future will never forgive us. They will forget the problems we solved while living with the compromises we made.

The future looks grim the way things are going. The Hot House Earth is going to fry us good. I do wish I could take a look at 2050 to see what-is-what. Like if the USA will still be operating as a large polity or splintered by the changing climate and vicious weather locally. In the future the only way to hold such places together may be with the the beryllium grip of dictatorship. Bad climate will promote it as a means of sociological adhesive. Either that or a strong bond between all of us to help each other to do it otherwise. (China may be able to do it.)

Resurrection of a kind of mammoth, cold temperature elephant could delay the effects of global warming in places where the permafrost is melting more than it is refreezing. Enough GHG’s locked up to if it was released could overturn us into AGW without any more of our help.

That curse, “may you live in interesting times” will only increase as things look.
