As my Gran used to tell me:Thunder is the sounds of the angels bowling; lightning is when one gets a strike; rain is the tears when none of them can make a 7-10 split for the spare.
My very religious mother (God’s biggest fan) told me thunder was warm air colliding with cooler air and lightning was static electricity. I guess she was wrong.
My dad, like William B’s mom, told me that it was warm air colliding with cooler air and that the lightning was static electricity – and he knew everything so I knew he was right. (Since he died I have learned that at least 3 times he was wrong about something.) Lies are not to be told to children or anyone else.
Last night/early this morning was a lot of warm and cold air colliding and a lot of static electricity – and thank goodness husband slept through it and the electricity going off and on several times.

My grandmother said that thunder was God rolling potatoes down the cellar staircase.
Grandma was a nutjob.

God’s gonna have some boring pictures. If he brings them out for show and tell, all his company will make excuses to go home early.

According to Frauline Maria, “The Lightning says something to the thunder and the thunder answers back.”
