After taking my neutered male toughie boy to the vet many years ago after he suffered a bite on his cheek, the vet told me that cats usually get bitten in one of two areas, depending on their stance in the fight. If they are bitten around the head area, they stood and fought, if they are bitten around the hind area, they were trying to get away.
Poor Moggy must be like my other sweet boy cat, who was a lover, not a fighter, and got bitten badly on his back by one of the local farmer’s nasty tomcats and suffered a terrible abscess. After that there were no more unsupervised trips outside. :(
