In honor of Mother’s Day today, here’s an article from Ripley’s Believe It Or Not from 2015 highlighting “9 Amazing Moms…”

    https://www.ripleys.com/weird-news/amazing-moms-2015/

Some moms from that list include (quoted directly from said article):

    2. FELIPA GRIJALBAThis wax figure represents the oldest mother to give birth to a baby. Felipa was reportedly 101 years old when she gave birth to her son. She passed away at 120 years of age.

    7. ELLEN FORDEllen Ford lost her ten-year-old girl, Florence Irene Ford, to yellow fever in 1871. No matter how much time passes, we can’t stop thinking of this heartbreaking mother-daughter story. After she lost her baby girl, a distraught Ellen had steps built down to the head of the casket and a glass window installed so that she could comfort her child during the thunderstorms that had always terrified her. On many nights, Ellen could be found sitting underground with her daughter. She would read or sing to her.

For more Mother’s Day inspired stories, here’s an article about motherhood making it into the Guinness Book of World Records:

    https://thestir.cafemom.com/being_a_mom/180589/moms_guinness_book_world_records

Some excerpts (quoted directly from the article):

The oldest mom to conceive naturally — IE, without any fertility treatment? That would be Dawn Brooke of the UK. In 1997, she was 59 years old when her son was delivered by C-section. As you might imagine, the pregnancy was unplanned and came as a shock to both Brooke and her husband.

You’ll want to sit down for this one. The greatest officially recorded number of kids ever born to a single mother? Sorry, Mrs. Duggar. Back in the 1700s, the wife of Feodor Vassilyev of Shuya, Russia gave birth to 69 children. That total includes 16 pairs of twins, 7 sets of triplets, and 4 sets of quadruplets. We can’t even imagine what dinnertime was like.

The detailed portrait bit is impressive, but EVERYTHING drawn via Etch-A-Sketch is done with a single unbroken line.

A book I read many years ago called that village the one with the longest name.

Should I nickname that guy Cyrano, Pinocchio, or both?

That’s so funny! Yesterday my family and I visited the Ripley’s museum in Williamsburg, VA and they have a bust of him on display. (I know, I know, they probably have busts of him in Ripley’s museums all over the world, I just thought it was funny enough to mention.)

I once successfully created a nice circle on an etch-a-sketch. I was only 6. Okay 16. All right 26. Okay just yesterday. But still.

I thought the drawing of Thomas Wedders was a caricature of Ringo when at first glance…

I eventually memorized the Welsh town’s spelling. I still have trouble pronouncing it.
