There was a tear in my living room window screen about six months ago. But that was because Diesel decided to rip half of it off the frame and then jump out the second-story window.
Fortunately, there’s a shed roof nearby that he could jump to. Unfortunately, he couldn’t get down from there. Fortunately, Raven knew this wasn’t right and cried until I got out of bed to see why he was so upset. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a tall enough chair to stand on to reach Diesel off that shed roof, and he’s a 20-pound Maine Coon mix, so having him jump on me was not an option, and he didn’t want to do it anyway. Fortunately, I managed to entice him into jumping back to the window with some catnip treats, and I caught him and dragged him back in before he could fall. Unfortunately, this all happened at 1 AM. Fortunately, everyone was OK and it makes a great story.
And that was the end of having the window open at night in my household!
Oh yeah, and: Yay! I’ve been waiting for this story! I’m glad it got slotted in, just in time to keep the dialogue for probably-Sunday’s strip – it has so many good lines – intact.
Interesting question….well interesting if you are a BCN obsessed, Georgia Dunn super-fan…Cat1963 pointed out Pucky is right-pawed. Elvis is motioning with his right paw, but holding the mike with his left. Do cats have a dominant paw? Are cats ambidex-paw-trous?
Cats will show a preference for right or left paws. I think male cats have a higher percentage toward being left-pawed…I’m a Leftie human, so I tend to remember left-pawed facts…but I’m not sure on male cats being more left-pawed. Anyone else know if I’m right or left, er, wrong?
And just HOW did that tear get in the screen, gentle cats?? Did one of you take a swat at something, get a claw caught, and compound the damage? Or did a certain little polydactyl lady get overly frisky.
My cat is a lefty. He always reaches with his left paw, to ask for food or a treat, to let me know he doesn’t want to be petted anymore, (left paw pushes my hand down) and to bat something around. He can also count. He knows he can have three treats at a time, he will not go away until he has the third treat.
Ah the joys of cul-de-sac living! City flushed the water mains & it’s up to us CDS’s to drain the brownish-red sludge that gets shoved into the neighborhood. No where for it to go but out our faucets, and we get to PAY for the fun!
After running water 5 minutes, I decided to let the neighbors do their share. Thankfully, Dusty got bottled water. I need to bathe before noon. Grrrrrrr!
I’ve been glad that my recovering-feral Gandalf is completely uninterested in going outside, so he doesn’t lurk around the screen door (which would otherwise provide an excellent angle for clawing). He likes to sit in the window and look down, but nothing more.
My pampered princess Angel joined me on the deck once, realized there was decidedly too much “up” out there, and has never tried again.
I hadn’t checked Georgia’s Facebook page for awhile, so I went back today and was reading the tributes to Sir Fig when I came across this interesting tidbit about how time is going to pass in the BCN World. I hope Georgia doesn’t mind if I repost it here. I would have posted a link but that didn’t work out so well the last time. She was answering somebody’s question about the passing of the real life Beatrix:
“She passed away in November of 2010. She was four months old, she had FIP. I will share her story one day on my blog, but it will never come into the comic. She will live forever in the comic. If I did want to have time continue in the comic, I would eventually make her the new Baba Mouse 20 years from now—but time is going to become static in the comic in a year or two, exactly to save Baba Mouse so we never have to lose her. The real Mouse passed away when I was seven. Once was enough.”
I think Elvis is the only one who views this as a major breach of security. Given Lupin’s response when the cicada got into the cupboard, he wouldn’t be bothered a bit by a few sky raisins/self-propelled toys in the house.
Tonight my daughter got the flea collar on Router. She said it was easier than any of our other kitties. Reboot requires two people to get a collar on – one to hold him and the other to sneak up and put the collar on from behind because if he sees it, he is out of there. I’m hoping that this Saturday we can get Router to the pound to be checked for a chip. He seems to have decided that if kibble and “liquid happiness” otherwise known as milk are to be found on the front porch, he isn’t going to go any further than under the wheelchair ramp.

Elvis, you don’t need Puck to tell us that the bug invasion will doom everyone. You can say that yourself.

Clearly, the station could use an intern. I’m sure Elvis would love to have a break from mug cleaning duty.♥

There’s a tear in the kitchen window screen?
Well, obviously it’s sad it got torn.

From his tail twitching, I don’t believe Lupin thinks the bugs getting in is a bad thing.

I think I read somewhere that make cats are right pawed and females are left pawed but I could be mistaken.
