I went to unemployment twice
Out of the service, I pumped gas
Out of college, I dug ditches
Never collected a penny
But Lord the taxes I pay now.
The American dream works.
For those on unemployment—Dig ditches
For those at minimum wage—Advance
For those who lost hope———Loser.
All please recall, Lew is on a cushy government retirement from the PO with all the insurance and health coverage available, so he’s really living off the government dole much more than the unemployed are. I think he’d have a hard time digging a ditch these days, too. Shame on you, buddy.
Lady, Donny T inherited a minor fortune, was almost completely out of business until the banks who would have bankrupted with him on his junk bonds bailed him out years ago and he got clobbered in a simple land deal by Merv Griffin. PLEASE don’t see that illusion of success as anything here.
Now the poor small business owner will have to raise the price of his lemonade since he has to pay for comp, unemployment, SS withdrawls from the check, will need to hire an accounting firm to handle it, will have to keep a doc on retainer to check for drug use, a criminal background check, I’m sure I missed a couple other things. HARDLY WORTH HIRING HIM.
There is a 15 year old boy at our school that runs his own gourmet catering company with a respectable income. I learned that regulations are less strict when you have only a few clients (no more than a church picnic). He is going through the process of getting certified for 100+ clients. This requires investing his savings in a commercial kitchen.

Reminds me of the lemonade on that Problem Child movie with John Ritter.
