My cords have colorful ribbon tied to them, in order to find them. When not in use, they are in Zip-Lock bags. It really does keep track of them and I know which cord goes with which electronic device that way.
We have been going through an odd period where everything has to be done a second time and things disappear for up to a month and then reappear where they belong – only the two of us in the house so it is not someone else taking it. Husband complained about this online and someone told him we have “borrowers” – little beings that borrow stuff and then return it (as in the books about them). I finally got my desk scissors back, but my kitchen Olfa Touch knife is missing for at least a year. Luckily my diabetes meter only disappeared for a week – and we have a spare meter.

Ben, in your time and mine, the first remotes had cords. Only I didn’t started using remotes until 1991!

I actually figured out a way to attach a leash to my cable/TV remote and attached it to my recliner with a safety pin.
Saved me LOTS of searching time.
I could reach up grab the string, straighten out my arm, and the remote leaped into my hand.
