Immigrants worked hard to get here and they work hard after they arrive. They obey the law at higher rates than citizens.

Their contribution (what they give) far exceeds the inadequate compensation they receive (what they take).

I live in a sanctuary state (California; to the best of my knowledge the only entire state to go sanctuary) and I would LOVE to see more of the immigrants come here — “give us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.”

And I know that many others feel the same and would welcome these productive contributors who give far more than they take.

    And another point…

The 2020 census is next year. And while non-citizens (legal or otherwise) MAY NOT VOTE, ALL people, not just voters, not just citizens, not even just those who are legal, but ALL people ARE included in the census.

So yeah, send us a MILLION HARD WORKING, PRODUCTIVE undocumented asylum-seekers. That should be good for about three additional congressional seats in sanctuary (BLUE) jurisdictions!

But let’s be realistic here. America’s legal immigration system is hopelessly broken, and the 2 major parties are so horribly entrenched on the issue that every neutral, bipartisan attempt to fix it ends up in a pissing contest and nothing happens. Meanwhile, people continue to suffer as all the attention gets diverted to the illegal immigration situation.
