Whoever has the greater force (and Tiger > 6-year old snack) makes the rules. Calvin’s experiences with Moe should have clarified this point. Hobbes does not respond well to Calvin’s autocratic directives.
“I am the organizer”(reality: you are about to be organized….)
Many years ago I was assigned to a partner in school like this. In making a flow chart we agreed I would create the chart and he would do the lettering. After the chart was made he tries to tell me my printing is so much better than his, I should letter the chart. He didn’t letter the chart, nor did I. After explaining to the teacher, I got a good grade, he got an incomplete.
Calvin sounds a lot like my wife…. Literally plopped down in a lawn chair to “supervise” me building a deck. She moved back a bit when the dust from my chop saw went her way.
Hobbes, just eat that brat already. Sure, he’ll give you a stomach ache, but you can run it off as you head into the forest. And the world will thank you.
My wife’s idea of organization is to grab a bunch of stuff from one area and pile it up somewhere else. Having a background in physics makes me more analytical (we all know what the first four letters of that word are) and I like things to be neatly organized. So, we have a saying in our house, “Organization is for a—holes.”
I find it strange that Calvin is imagining Hobbes opposing everything he does/says. Maybe Hobbes is actually a living toy like in Toy Story. But if he WAS a living toy then why does he always look like a stuffed tiger when anybody else is around and reverts back to being “alive” when it’s just Calvin?
Stuff like that makes me think it’s only Calvin’s vivid imagination. BUT, if it was, why would he “imagine” Hobbes always trying to make him suck it up and do the right thing? Wouldn’t he pretend that Hobbes was more like him. You know to “escape” from his nagging parents and girls like Susie by manifesting a playful fun-loving friend from a stuffed tiger called Hobbes.
He he… and this was the longest comment I’ve ever written. Bye!
