Good thing Mr. Allen was on the radio where no one (expect Mr. Ripley himself and his crew) would be grossed out seeing him drink the venom.

Nowadays pennies are mostly zinc rather than copper.

For those that don’t know, venom is not dangerous when swallowed. It’s only a problem if it get’s in the blood.

I assume those buildings only have unique 9-digit zip codes, not 5-digit ones.

Venom isn’t toxic unless it is injected through the skin, into tissue. Apparently, Mr. Allen just has a drinking problem.

Venom is safe to drink! Who here is willing to test that theory? Hopefully you don’t have any open sore in the stomach lining.

I wonder if there is any danger, however slight, from swallowing snake venom if one has, say, bleeding gums… which is a common condition. Or one or more ulcers in the mouth or esophagus. Or any other breach in the mucous membrane in those same areas. I guess that venom, being composed mostly of protein, would be digested quickly once it reached the stomach, though.

Or if while you are swallowing it someone says something so funny that you spray it out your nose as happens with coffee while reading the funnies. I have a fairly persistent nosebleed, so there’s that.

When saying something has its own ZIP code, Ripley’s should say if it is at the 5 digit or 9 digit level.

I wonder if they mean modern pennies or pre 1982 ones. Modern pennies have very little actual copper.

According to this site you could make 8,990,000 pennies from the copper in the Statue of Liberty.

In Atlanta, the Georgia state capitol dome iscovere4d in solid gold, mined here in Georgia. There isn’t as much as it appears, as it is a VERY thin coating.

I lived in a 9-unit apartment building in Syracuse NY during the 90’s with its own ZIP+4 code!
