Little kids NEVER consider the money involved, it’s a concept that goes right over their little heads. My 4-yr-old granddaughter just left after a week’s visit with her dad. I was never so glad that he was footing her bills, she has very expensive tastes, and he’s a pushover. :P
I feel for you, Alice… my parents told me it was too expensive to let me have ballet lessons, but when little sister when to kindy, she got them!
“That kindergarten wasn’t open when you were 5!” says they. I wish I could have said they shouldn’t have let her have them when they’d denied them to me. Set up a lot of resentment and sister and I have never really been close.
She’ll be the Baryshnikov of the public water system (sorry for using a male dancer example for a little girl, but it was the only famous ballet name I knew … ballet’s really not my thing).
Caught up in the euphoria of a manic high (sort of like Mr. Toad and his new motorcar), Alice needs time to cool off and come down from her high. Madeline would be wise to stall….
my sister is 5-1/2 years older than I am. we fought all the time. she left home after graduation and after she had her first child, we became very close and have been close now for the past 55 years! nobody but a sibling has that shared history to bind you together!

“Expensive” must not yet be in Alice’s dictionary.

Lessons aren’t really necessary, a handful of ants in your underwear will create the same effect…
