    The war stories from WW2 I heard from my uncles, about each other, never from their own lips left me in awe. One shot down twice, the 2nd time taken POW for the remainder of the war. 1 had 2 ships torpedoed out from under him in the Pacific. 1 spent the war in the Philippine jungle with Wendell Fertig. 1 was with the OSS in Italy. My dad was a destroyerman on the Murmansk run…you can learn a lot of history just sitting at the feet of your elders as they drink boilermakers on the porch of the Jersey shore bungalow.
