Since I’m old and retired, I frequently answer phone calls on my cell phone. If it’s a real person, I suddenly get very stupid and keep them on the phone for as long as I can, asking questions, making them repeat themselves, in general wasting as much of their time as possible. Sometimes, they catch on and ask if I’m yanking their chain. I cheerfully admit it and suggest they delete my number from their list. Oddly, most of them are pretty good natured about it and agree to do so. If they get irate, I remind them they called me and wasted my time, and not the other way round. If it’s a robot, I block the number. When you’re old and retired, you get your fun when and where you can.

He had tranquility and couldn’t handle it. The sound of silence.

If the number and name are not on my call list I don’t answer. My sisters and I text all the time.
