In Indiana, “The [so-called] Crossroads of America”, we say that there are only two seasons: winter season and construction season. The paradox is why the streets, roads, and highways are in such abysmal condition, by and large.
Racine, Wisconson is having trouble with a contractor that knows how to tear out roads, but can’t figure out how to make new ones. There are several miles of mud and rubble that have been there over a year.
So, something Americans, I assume of all political stripes, can agree about! Me, I’ll take a differing view: infrastructure needs to be replaced, it’s a necessity, people are employed, it’s good to SEE tax dollars being used, the “new” almost always ends up being more efficient, etc. Happy 4th to ALL!!!

I’ve used a jackhammer, and it was close to shaking my pants down, too.

Reminds me of the scene from Falling Down with Michael Douglas.

Not to be a douche but imagine living in a country where they do NOT repair and replace roads.

Those “slow men working” were probably the “slow children playing” at one time.

There were closed lane ahead for the past 5-miles. (Probably should be closer to discourage those last second cut-in A-holes.)

If this scene had a ‘shark fin’ – it could be the picture on the front of a Jan van Haasteren jigsaw puzzle.
