Andy: Evidently, she's found things to do that don't require spending. Nicole: Ok, Paige, quick. No one's looking. Paige: I can't believe we're doing this.

There are measures like that where that could never happen-magnetic box strips, metal detectors, surveillance cameras, and guards that work for the real police department instead of just the shopping center. You’d be hosed if you just tried to take something from the candy shelf.

Yeah. I remember this one. I believe it was in the FoxTrot calendar a few years ago. I’ll keep mum, though, but yes, it is the most stressful series I ever remember from FoxTrot.

Hmm. These TV and cartoon families don’t seem like the average family out there. It seems like half the people in the real world don’t think twice about stealing. I’ve worked at a few stores. And even when I live in a ‘low crime’ area, security, cameras and the anti-theft tags haven’t put much of a dent in theft. They take magnets to deactivate the tags (unless they’re the permanent ones) and find sneaky ways to hide them, if not remove the item from the packages. It’s amazing how many opened packages I’ve found in the trash or behind other items on the shelves.
Yeah, Paige is too obvious, (of course this is a cartoon) unless they think the store doesn’t have cameras. But I assume she’ll be caught, as the normal story lines go.

This is one of the very few story lines I remember. I don’t know when it first appeared, but I suspect it was before some of the anti-theft measures had been implemented.

Hey, the consequences of stealing a CD is still far cheaper than the consequences of pirating a single song. More profit for less danger.

The guiltier you look, the more likely you’ll be caught. Paige is toast! She doesn’t exactly have a poker face…

On the news last night they showed a Safeway store up in Portland that is closing because the shoplifters are stealing so much they can’t afford to stay open!
