My eldest and I are science geeks. My youngest likes science, but sometimes finds it dull when we launch an extended discussion of esoteric science facts she doesn’t yet have the background to understand. She asked her sister how babies are made one day and got an extended lecture on hormonal cycles, cellular reproduction, and DNA. It was a little much for a 5th grader.
