While I’ll never complain about the boys putting scripture in the strip today is a good example of taking it out of context to fit a need.
Lamentations 5 is a prayer of anguish and repentance from a people who have lost everything because of sin in their lives.
While two of the 3 girls were orphans they certainly weren’t oppressed or lacking anything they needed or wanted. The only similarity is the term orphan.
I’m also a bit confused by the Lamentations quotation. Even as it sits, none of them are currently fatherless, but all of them have lost a mother. If Sunday Annie strips usually began with a quotation, I suppose it was appropriate to include one here.
The “Crimestoppers Textbook” bothers me, because it means that some people DO give details about their home security system (or lack of one) to a stranger who knocks on the door. It’s crazy that some people are that easy of a mark.
4- Hey Blondie. Stay away from the mean girl’s feet. They turned my hair green. 5- ANNIE: Yeah! I got powers. Come over here. I’ll show ya. 6: GREENIE: I got powers too. I can see through my hair. 7- ANNIE: So what. I can see through closed eyes. 8: ANNIE: I’ll show ya. I’ll swim right to you with my eyes closed. Look out. Here I come!
Somebody mentioned what Chet would do. Right now, I think Chet is rolling over in his grave now that this is going in the direction of General Hospital. Tune in tomorrow for the thrill of ennui
I like the Young Detectives and expect them to play a part in solving this arc’s mystery, whatever that is, But, I think half a week’s dailies plus a Sunday strip is a bit much time to spend in the Hotel Siam pool just getting acquainted and re-hashing backgrounds. Tracy has work to do!
is it just me or are the panels out of order? Annie rambling off the names of the women should have come BEFORE the “let’s swim” panel
As far as the pool goes.. looks like theyre the only three there.. maybe nobody ELSE can afford to stay at the Siam either so that’s how they got it all to themselves.. and about their hair staying dry… when ugly crystal asks annie about having a mother you can see the diving boards in the background. diving boards can only be installed in a pool that’s at LET ten feet deep, the double diving boards indicate that the opposite end of the pool is MUCH deeper than that (probably 15 feet or more) and they three are more than likely standing in the shallow end

Dick Tracy sticks his beak in, so Warbucks pushes back
“Kind of nosey, aren’t you, pal? What info do you lack?
I’m not the only one who’s wed more than a single time
You’re Tess’s second husband, yes? Pray tell, where is the crime?
Let’s change the subject. Start again. How is your young Detective?
Like Annie, she’s a crimestopper. The club is quite selective.”
Elsewhere, at the Siam pool, the girls they splash about
Annie is a Warbucks now. Her heart joyful and stout.
Crystal lost her mother. Lamentation not her style
United with her father, so good natured is her smile.
Honeymoon did lose her Mom by means vile and cruel
Now she has Aunt Mysta who has taken her to school
On ways to wield the powers that in Honeymoon still grow
Zappage and Telepathy: Onee San is in the know.
Annie’s filled with gratitude for the women in her life
Ma Silo, Sally, Flossie, Rose did save her from much strife.
Good friends now frolic in the pool. Young and smart and wet
A peaceful respite that can’t last. We ain’t seen nothing yet.

Sunday “Annie” strips always used to commence with a quote. ✨❤️✨

At the pool
There’s nothing to do
But swim, float and chat
3 friends that are fond
A green, red and blond
And suprisingly none are very fat
I only wish
The pool’s goldfish
Would explain to me why
Despite all that wet
The girls needn’t fret
Their hair has magically stayed dry.

I for one am ready for Annie to open her eyes and leave the pool before this story takes a total bellyflop!

I like the story so far, I have a feeling the mother question will play a part in the upcoming saga!

A high diving board? Mr. Am must have very nervous lawyers…

I’m still wondering how Honeymoon’s electrical discharge and water mix.

This strip tells it all. Don’t bitter the water over the past. Sweeten it with the hope of the future.

They’re having a race in the Siam Pool — will this contest end in a “Thai”?
I apologize.
