Mom, I just wanted to play connect the dots.

Calvin, if there’s one lesson you need to learn is, don’t piss off Mom when she’s working with glue.

You need a special room in that house with a lock on the outside of the door.

There is an upside to living in an apartment.

How true this is – you don’t own the house – it owns you!

With all the exercise Mom gets, she’ll never have a weight problem.

Calvin must’ve been that bored before boring holes in the wall.

Frankly, I had the same problem with dogs. I suppose the only person who really respects the house is the one who has to fix it.

Mom is talking to herself. You would think that this strip would use thought bubbles instead.

I think drawing the drill that way was a cartoonist’s iconic device. Sort of like a light bulb over the head symbolizing someone has a brilliant idea. After all, we all recognized it immediately as a drill in spite of it being archaic.

Maintenance, One of the “hidden expenses” of home ownership. If you don’t know how to fix your house, you need to pay to have it fixed. Many people think as long as they can pay the mortgage, they can afford to own a home.

Especially when you have a kid like Calvin.

So there I was, c. 1956, pump can of model airplane engine fuel in the left hand and lighter in the right and aiming the flame-thrower Alpha-Test out my bedroom window. First thing I knew, my Hopalong Cassidy drapes were on fire.

The Drill brings up the Memories of My Past. The comments on the house bring up the Current Realities of the Here and Now !!! It never ends. I can’t complain, I am sort of breaking down and fallen’ apart too,in Need of Repairs.

Good thing Calvin doesn’t have access to power tools.
