Then there’s music—from vinyl, to 8 track, to cassette, to CD to MP3, and now the cloud!

My first job in education was as the A-V coordinator for a high school in 1974. We had a state of the art Video Tape Recorder—yes, it recorded onto reel to reel tapes! It was so complicated to set up the timed recording function that whoever wanted to tape that I think we only managed to successfully tape two movies, “Brian’s Song,” and “The Diary of Miss Jane Pittman.” When teachers wanted to show the movie in their classrooms, I had to take a TV and hook it to the system, then go to the AV room which was in the front part of the circuit breaker room with all the high voltage warnings on the door and start the movie from there, then sit and watch it. We had no 2-way communicated between the AV room and the classroom, so I couldn’t pause it if the teacher wanted to stop and make a point. I never want to see either of those two movies again!
