Of all the picnics I’ve been on, the one with the fewest flying insect pests (zero) was near the Oregon coast. There was enough wind that when we threw goldfish crackers to the jays they actually flew backward to catch ’em.
(I didn’t say it was a particularly pleasant picnic: Just that there weren’t any mosquitoes or flies)
