In the beginning was Britannica and then the Oxford Unabridged Dictionary…together they created RESEARCH, something done amid vast volumes of printed texts, newspapers and magazines. Seeking original source materials for the FACTS.

When I was a kid with only 3 channels on the TV, no Internet, and lots of time on my hands I would sit down and pull out one volume of the encyclopedia we had and look for something interesting to read.

You rode your bike 5km to the library to discover the 30 year old Encyclopedia Britannica didn’t include it and neither did the 40 year old Funk and Wagnalls

We had the Golden Book Encyclopedia at home, plus a variety of How And Why Wonder Books.

We had several different sets of encyclopedias. I actually wish that I still had some of them. I used to spend hours just looking stuff up.
