Sounds like radio stations that think “American Pie” is the only song Don McLean ever did.

I’d think the bird would be more into “Soul Sacrifice” by Santana or Jimi Hendrix’s rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

I kinda wonder if Woodstock would like Weird Al’s Parody of “American Pie”… “The Saga Begins” is fun!

During its day, “Louie, Louie” was played ‘to death’ for months … then the Beatles appeared, and it was forgotten about in a week.

When I was very young I used to beg my oldest sister to play “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” over and over and over…

American Pie replaced El Passo as a DJ’s favorite record for getting a potty break. Nowadays, the computers that play the songs selected by the big conglomerate that own 100 other stations don’t care.

We have a local station that claims to play a “mix.” I imagine the same songs are playing at the same time in other markets everywhere. Unfortunately the mix is based on a national “average” and doesn’t match the local market preferences as indicated on Fridays when the station queues up listener requests.

And then we had the ‘Ghostbusters’ era – luckily it didn’t last long, but then it was in the background on commercials. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggghhhhhhhh!!

American Pie was a little early for me (I was 9). But I remember not being able to do anything without hearing a disco Bee Gees song for a while in the day.

I no longer have listen to song’s I don’t like. I do not even own a radio anymore. I have CD’s for all the songs that I like.

Drove his Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry.

I saw him and Judy Collins in Topeka, Kansas 3 or 4 years ago. I noticed he was at one of our Oklahoma casinos this month, so he’s still out there.
