Going through the Peanuts characters in my mind, I can’t come up with nine who I’m sure play on Charlie’s team, including Lucy. A couple, such as Peppermint Patty and therefore probably Marcie, have played against them. If he gets rid of Lucy, will he even have a team?
Has GoComics noted somewhere (maybe I haven’t seen it) about today in Peanuts (and larger than that) history? From The Jon S. Randal Peace Page on Facebook:

The article goes on to talk about how a woman named Harriet Glickman wrote to Charles Schulz’ asking/encouraging him to introduce an African-American character and what Charles’ thinking was at the time. It is a good read for those who appreciate comics like us.
