Spend some time working in the bush, and you will come to love wasps, bees, hornets and the like. They are the among the few flying insects that don’t view you as supper.
The one creature (along with ground nesting bees) I won’t tolerate living near the house. Too easy to set them off, they’re too protective. Otherwise, que sera sera.
Wasps in the US are generally harmless as long as you leave them alonge – and aren’t allergic. The only problem I would have would be a concern over that void under the back step, which can lead to further erosion and eventual collapse.
That’s here in Florida, anyway. I’m beginning to think that the soil in Florida just LOOKS for ways to make things collapse…
What has always worked for me is to hang up a fake wasp nest, costs a couple of dollars for two at Home Depot. The real wasps will move home fairly quickly. I hang fake wasp nests at the front and back of my house every spring (they usually last a couple of years until they fall apart) and I haven’t had a real wasp nest since. Before I started doing this, it was an annual occurrence.
not by the back door. I may be a nature lover (with a yard full of clover and mint) but stinging bugs near the back door aren’t a good thing. I don’t want my dogs to get hurt. Spiders, too. They can live a good long happy life outdoors and away from my doors.

Paper wasps are NOT welcome to build in the weather hood for the cloths dryer.

Good idea, but be careful if you are allergic to wasp stings.

Until wasps are put on the endangered list, I’m going to spray them.

They will leave you alone if you don’t threat en them. So keep your distance. They are very beneficial in the garden .

Barn swallows are a much better way. They rip the nests apart and feed the grubs to their young.
