An old joke goes, a preacher used the same sermon 3 weeks in a row. When a deacon asked why he did that, the preacher replied, “Because you didn’t respond the first time.” The church where I attend had a real life example of this joke. The pastor there seemed to be preaching the same theme multiple weeks (think 4 or more). The church responded by dismissing him. To be fair, there were other reasons for the dismissal, but the sermons didn’t help.
