If they don’t come out of the water, than most of the animals humans are driving into extinction won’t exist either. Rocks don’t care if we bang them together so the planet itself might not be worse off.

In the really long run, the planet is doomed anyway — the sun will die in a few billion years. The only hope for life on Earth is for humans to stop mucking about fighting each other, and plan together for migration to other stars.

Most people are too innocent to understand there are those who truly, deeply hate the human species.

I understand both the point of the cartoon and the joke.

Still, it wonders me which of those fingered fish cut down the tree and crafted the nice, round table (and the tools needed to do that), raised and separated the flax fiber used to make the table cloth and turban (and wove it after building the loom), mined the gold for the stand and then melted and cast it (first making the casting mold of whatever material), and either derived the glass or found, formed and polished the huge clear jewel (or maybe it’s a pearl?) that is the globe.

Those seem to be some very sophisticated and intelligent fish.

And they will evolve into Mermen and Mermaids and make the Ocean uninhabitable, then they will evolve into men and do it all over again.

If everyone who sincerely believes that and was committed to their ideals would just dive back into the ocean, the planet WOULD be better off.

To paraphrase the late, great George Carlin, the planet’s going to be just fine. The human race, however…

Humans are the most invasive species we know of. And we’re very good at fouling our nests, too. We like to think that with our big brains, we’re able to foresee trouble and work around it. This appears to be not true for humans as a group, though I’ve seen individuals avoid trouble…

I wonder what the next big invasive (aka “successful”) species will be.

Don’t worry about the planet, it is just a rock circling the sun. Worry about making the conditions on earth better for the lives of fish and future humans.
