As the security guard tries to explain 1938 to a baffled Lee Ebony, Tracy and Sam are hard at work examining the evidence. Action Comics #1 was dated June 1938, 81 years ago this month. This was the book where Superman made his debut. Mike Curtis, who writes Dick Tracy, had kind of the world’s biggest collection of Superman memorabilia before donating most of it last year.
Well, both Annie and Gypsy got abducted! This puts a new wrinkle on the situation! BTW, I just looked at a 1967 panel of LOA from 1967 by Harold Gray. The asp had the same bolo style tie but his hat didn’t have the wide brim.
So they were seen leaving, and nothing looked suspicious? Did he trick them with some kind of story? Or did he threaten them with a gun that was out of sight of both the camera and the guard?
This is insane. Why would Annie and Gypsy mindlessly go with someone who was suppose to drive them somewhere when Gypsy was at work and Annie was buying a paper?
1 – GREENIE: Where’s the flush handle??? I hate these new fangled urinals. TRACY: Shake it off and shake a leg. I gotta set to do. 2- BOX OFFICE MGR: Sorry miss. The Tracy Show is sold out. TRACY: And now a bit of card mastery that will astound and amaze! Voila! Floating Aces! Next up, “I can cut a woman in two, but you won’t wanna look in the box when I’m through” (Editors Note: Any music fans spot that lyric?)
The Siam’s doorman is probably older than Lee Ebony, and as a guy is more likely to have been interested in that kind of comic than Lee would. But he did get at least part of the plate, and Tracy is reviewing DMV records over his Wrist Wizard. Sam is running CCTV tapes (which so far seemingly do not reveal Muscle’s weapon, which he must have kept concealed) while Tracy and Lee question the helpful doorman, who also saw and probably can describe Muscle. Is Lizz present anywhere?
DOT: Don’t talk to me. I gotta a real man now. Two of them in fact.
2-COFFEE: This chick is really into bow ties! Thanks for the tip, pal!
ASTRO: I should a never told you how she’s a sucker for every new bow tie she sees. I hope Tracy doesn’t bring Sam when he busts in any second or we’ll both be without a chick.

Annie would have put up a fight or had gotten away. But we shall see. I like the effect in the last panel.

Yes, there must have been some provocation for those two to have gone for a ride with an unknown antagonist.

Lee is the only person in Tracyville who is not a nostalgic comic geek.

Gee, thanks for that info Neil. I wouldn’t have known that unless I’ve lived in a cave for 50 years. Maybe they left in that car Supe was lifting?
