I’ve been to China repeatedly - Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Macau - and three things stand out for me:

This is an oppressive totalitarian state (you have to have your bag checked just to enter Tiananmen Square, even though it’s basically an empty concrete plaza) They are aggressively pursuing a capitalist and economic approach to world dominance - Look at the incredible growth of Shanghai, which was partially intended to replace Hong Kong: http://www.neatorama.com/2011/01/21/the-growth-of-shanghai/ They think they are entitled to rule the world.

^Of course, fennec. Relying on totalitarian techniques is their largest mistake. Their actions regarding Tibet, Taiwan, and Korea are no more than bullying - but as long as people allow them to get away with it, it may be a long stay.

They think they are bound to rule the World? They are doomed to fail, then.

If they won’t learn it the easier way like the British, they will learn it the hard way like the German.
