TV: Welcome to the all-cat game show, "What Did Muffy Kill?" Okay panel, before your questions, you'll get one clue from Muffy, and here it is... HACK!
Garfield: Blue jay! Gotta be!
We lived in a house with a big tree by the front door with one nice low branch. Our cat liked to lay in the shade but the blue jays used the low branch as their “staging point” to dive bomb the cat. But about every 6-7 weeks, instead of the cat, we would find a little pile of blue jay feathers under the tree.
I guess the jays just got a little too cocky for their own good!
Cats need bones in their diet, which is why most cat food includes bone meal. They thrive best on food without cereal filler - but that is much more expensive, of course. I compromise with all meat (and bone meal) treats several times a week. They enjoy it more when it isn’t every day.
My beloved cat, Gypsy dared to bring the live quail by his mouth into my parents’ house. I was shocked and yelled at him to drop the quail. He did it. I caught the quail and let it go outside. Gypsy got mad at me for letting it go. Too bad! sighhhh! Good grief! :-/
Simba was forever bringing in animals and letting them go in the house. Used to drive us nuts trying to do his job for him. He was so much like garfield, we miss him, He died this year. but what a cat.
@ William Pursell, Blue Jays are notorious for aggressive tactics! But I think it’s mainly when they have a nest to protect.
At any rate, birds typically dive bomb cats to protect their young.
And I know for a fact that Blue Jays dive bomb people too! - especially little kids - when they even come near their nest.
Blue jays chase away squirrels, too, gang. They attack other birds. The only ones I’ve seen hold their ground are these little wrens who will actually chase the blue jays away. Yeah, that was one tough cat if She coughed up a blue jay feather.
