Thoughts & Prayers. We think those mass shootings (anytime there are more than only 4+ victims – so as of the end of May there were only 148 mass shootings, with 722 people shot and 162 of those were shot and killed, in 2019 – folks, that’s only the first 5 months – in the US alone) might make the gun industry look bad and pray the litigation and lobbyists don’t cost too much. Hey, Wayne! You and the ILA go screw yourselves.
In countries like mine (India) with gun control, we still get to hear of shootings (mainly with unlicenced firearms) every now and then. Shudder to imagine the situation without controls!
We are focusing on the wrong piece of the picture. Take away all gun-related violence and we would still have many thousands of violent deaths and assaults every year. We aren’t doing enough about applying what we already know about how to identify people likely to act out violently and we aren’t doing nearly enough to learn more. Instead, we have our eyes glued on the hardware, which saves us from the uncomfortable experience of looking at ourselves in the mirror and realizing that we, not our hardware, are the problem.
In 2018 the number of gun deaths in the US was almost 40,000. Almost double that of 1993, when this strip was published.https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/18/us/gun-deaths.html

But shoot up a classroom full of kids: Now is not the right time to discuss gun control.

Don’t worry Mr. Dum-Dum, America has a lot of wacko nuts, hell we even elected one president, so nothing will change.

Amazing that as old as this cartoon is the story line is still relevant, just the victims have changed.

Get rid of the ad that’s blocking the right side of my comic strips.

So school shootings don’t have an impact? We need to fix that.
