I get those emails all the time. Lately they have opened with “Dearheart”! I’m not your dear heart and while I was born in the morning, it wasn’t this morning!
Here’s an irony: I know a real live Nigerian prince who is a member of our church in NJ, and we have members who have gone to his mission in Nigeria. But he would never “cold call” or use the Internet to seek financial help, he only works through people he knows personally.
My mother-in-law, while not senile, did not have the mind she used to have. She was constantly being taken advantage of by telephone solicitors. My wife and her siblings finally had to take her credit cards and checkbook away.
What a shame that children have to resort to this to help and protect their parents. I just wonder how these blankety bank blanks can sleep or look at themselves in the mirror?
In another branch of that spectrum, I saw an article in the local newspaper that Illinois police agencies’ charity organizations are prohibited from making calls or hiring others to do so. A week after I read that, I got a call from one of these pirates, and asked if he knew that what he was doing was illegal. It got an immediate hangup.

I’m in constant trouble with the IRS. They keep calling and I have to give them my credit card number so they won’t send the police to arrest me.

My mom and I always have a good laugh together over all the scam messages she gets.
