Initially, I thought that both lovers were into geography and numbers, but the punchline makes it sound like only one is. Background colors could represent who is speaking.

Hey, at least he didn’t start with “It was a dark and stormy night.” for once!

For the first panel: The HEART in Snoopy’s thought balloon was before emoticons.

Wondering how Snoopy’s going to explain how a woman could fall in love with such a guy…

Well, Snoopy could have gone the Rhett Butler route. After she says: “I love you”, the hero would say “Frankly, I don’t give a *&^%!”

The breath of my love for you is wider than the distance from the top of Everest to the bottom of the Marianas trench. Which is more that Sixty Four thousand feet.

Mt. Everest, bah. Me, I’m an Olympus Mons kind of guy (72,000 feet of pure loving bliss).

I read an Norwegian translation of this strip where the last line is a bit more neutral: “The hero is a scientist!”

I think Petula Clark covered this ground with a little more panache.

My love is warmer than the warmest sunshine. Softer than a sigh. My love is deeper than the deepest ocean. Wider than the sky. My love is brighter than the brightest star. That shines every night above. And there is nothing in this world. That can ever change my love.

Snoopy, is the hero a terrible bore because you intend to make him that way, or because you are actually a poor writer?

The highest mountain is Mauna Kea, when measured from the ocean floor.
