Supersurfer, I don’t think 1500 years of being Broomie is any consolation.

I’m torn. 1500 years is pretty good if you’re into longevity - and a witch probably doesn’t need a big bank account. On the other hand, if she’s saying an education would have made her look better, then that’s a compelling argument for education!

Do they let witches in school after the second millennium?

It botyhers me that some consider the worth of a life by that persons bank account. Broomie may not have a bank account, but the fact she helps Nerwin means her life is of value as far as I’m concerned.

If your education helps you build a bank account there’s nothing wrong with that, but it’s only been very recently (200 years or so) that such a concern was even worth thinking about. Education is its own reward. The whole idea of a liberal education (and I don’t mean the word in a political sense) is to help you grow as a fully-realized human being (or troll, as the case may be).

It’s being like Broomie for 1500 years that is discouraging, and encourages education.
