Lay Lines by Carol Lay for July 29, 2019

My Shar-Pei, Sissy, was my bestie until she passed on after almost 14 years back in September 2005, on the last day of Summer. I still miss that dog terribly.

I remember reading this on Salon when it was new. Hard to believe another cat generation has passed in the meantime. Thanks Carol. Hope you’ve found others to curl up with you in the meantime.

I’m so sorry. I’ve had many cats over the years and know it is really hard to lose them.

Our farm was over run by rats after we started raising cattle. The farm tomcat died of an infected rat bite. Then Sarah Jane showed up. She was a fierce hunter and the rats evaporated in a matter of weeks. She had one kitten who survived who was just a good.

Sorry for your loss.

Moral of the story….the present is a coin flip, while the past in retrospect oft seems sweetly fated. But for most people, the future remains a blank space empty of those familiar things we once cherished.

RIP Gusto.

Losing a beloved furry child is a very painful experience. But be aware, Carol, that you will see him again…
