THIS is exactly why the tree-hugger crowd has so little credibility. The PLANET is fine. It’s the PEOPLE who are fucked! The Earth has been here for over 4 billion years. It has survived 5 major and 4 dozen minor extinction events and will continue to orbit the Sun, until the Sun swells up into a red giant, goes nova and vaporizes the Earth in the process. Not for at least another billion+ years. No, we are NOT killing/destroying the PLANET. We are destroying the planet’s capacity to sustain us. Can’t wait to see the 1% trying to eat, drink and breathe their precious money….

Not to worry, the planet will do just fine with or without homo sapiens.

On the other hand, that hyperspace bypass will proceed without any further red tape!

Actually, the moon wouldn’t be orbiting the Earth anymore if the Earth suddenly disappeared. Without Earth’s gravity the Moon would take off in whatever direction it was heading when the Earth vanished. Into the Sun if it was aimed towards the Sun or out toward deep space if it’s orbit was aimed away from the Sun. It might settle into Earth’s orbital spot if it was moving parallel to our current orbital path, but depending which side of Earth it was on, it could wind up with its orbit running counter to all the other planets. As for the Space station, anyone there would be doomed. Whether they were snagged by the Moon when it went by or not, their supplies are limited no matter how well they recycle. No Earth, no fresh supplies.

If we don’t save it, the dolphins will leave. That’s not to say the dolphins won’t leave ANYway at some unspecified point in the future, but let’s not force their hand (flipper?).
