    The KC Symphony commissioned a new work celebrating the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad. They needed a sound for blasting. A percussionist got to hit a specially designed platform with a huge wooden maul. https://www.kcsymphony.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/20CS1-ProgramNotes.pdf
