If you really enjoy this sequence, there’s a book of collected Peanuts cartoons called “Thompson is in Trouble.” It’s available on Amazon, and many other fine purveyors of books, I’m sure.
I’m torn between thinking Charlie Brown is very good owner or a bad one. One one hand, he knows Snoopy enough to read beagle code, but on the other, he does allow Snoopy to off on secret missions unaccompanied.

No one will recognize him while he wears his famous disguise.

If it’s famous, everyone knows about it…not much of a disguise then.

Famous Disguise???? Is that like congressional intelligence, or military intelligence, or friendly fire?

I have not known many beagles who were good at stealth.

Snoopy, the Hercule Pawrow of the beagle world. (Yes, I know it could have been spelled ‘Pawrot’, but beagles might wonder at what’s making paws rot.)

understood how Snoopy was able to decode the message, but how did Charlie Brown know? Did he work in Canine Intelligence once?

He looks a bit like his brother, Spike, with the mustache.

Is he making reference to some political event of the time this strip was made?

Isn’t a “famous disguise” self-defeating?

Who could be this mysterious Thompson?

If a disguise is famous, it’s no longer a disguise.

Happy Birthday Snoopy! ( On this day in 1950 Snoopy made his first appearance in a Peanuts cartoon.)

Of course, the enemy knows that no secret agent would ever be foolish enough to wear a famous disguise; which makes it the perfect disguise.

Don’t blame Thompson. He’s only living up to his purpose, to test the stability of this place.

Rat a tat tat, and that’s all they wrote for Thompson.

A mustache is a good disguise in the western countries. Down here in the east it is passe.
