Got to experience this again recently with my 19-yr-old, who was in the hospital after major surgery and was crying from the pain – she let me hug her and stroke her hair, and told me it was comforting. Felt like Super Parent all over again!

The first time a baby (not my own) stopped crying in my arms, I felt great. It helped that I wasn’t the cause of the crying.

My older brother & I were somewhat older than my younger brother & sister were born . So we were told when they were tiny babies "You wake them; you’ve got them! "

Oh, yes. The only thing better is when one of your other kids goes and hugs the one that is about to cry and says “it’s ok sis.” That is when you know you have archived maximum parenthood. You are raising a human with a good heart. Not as easy as it looks.
