I had to explain to my niece once what a record was. She was talking really fast. So I said ‘Slow it down to 33 1/3" Then I told her that records(music was played on them) came in in different speeds . (33 1/3 45 & 78 rpm aka rotations per minute ) & the way she was talking was 78 RPM .So she laughed! She still talks a bit fast but she’s slowed down a bit .
I had my stereo system set up in the basement when the kids were little. One day I showed them and their friends what a record was and how it was played. When I set the needle on the record and music came out of the speakers they were mesmerized. It was pretty funny!
