there are days when you think “I have to play with my kids” and days you think “I get to play with my kids”. May you have more of the later than the former.
I am the oldest of 3 daughters – no sons. When I was little my dad would take me to his office a few times during the year. I would play “accountant”. I would use the rubber stamps (any but the one with his signature). I would type. I would play with the adding machine. When dad, my uncle (mom’s brother) and uncle’s secretary had coffee, I had cocoa. I knew that this was the job I wanted. When I grew up I wanted to be just like my dad – the smartest person I have ever known. So I also became an accountant and took over his practice when he died.
My point being – dad’s work can be turned into playing for children so dad gets work done and children don’t feel as if they were pushed aside for same.
And until I convinced husband that I REALLY DON’T WANT ANY GIFTS, his go to place to buy me gifts was office stores.

No one ever said, on their deathbed, that they wished they’d spent more time at work.

It won’t take long. And you’ll certainly regret it if you don’t.

You should be glad you did it today! Just have that song ‘Cats in a Cradle’ looping in your head as you play.
