If the “The Black” takes them both, how will Wally find out what’s going on?

Duffy’s got some set of stones. He went after the invisible whatsis on the beach (he couldn’t present himself as bait and be prepared to ambush it). He’s jumping in here against something he’s probably never seen before, and which has already captured someone else.
