Pun not intended, doctor? (Better get out the smelling salts I presume.)

Elly, I can’t believe you are that uneducated. You are what? In your mid-late 30s? Still menstruating? Still doing the bedroom gymnastics? Not on birth control? (none of which is 100% foolproof anyway). All are the ingredients of the recipe for a pregnancy. Well, this pregnancy is all thanks to your own and John’s ignorance. But I know April will be a blessing nonetheless. She is very different from your two firstborns.

Why is she naked? Do Canadian socialist doctors demand you strip before they even look at you?

Does she have to be naked? I can understand topless or a hospital gown but naked?

Naked? I guess this is what she went through. Other people probably had different experiences. Lynn should know what happened to her.

When I was 20, I went for a routine physical. The doctor did some things that weren’t exactly, shall we say, ethical; including (but not limited to) having me take off my shirt & bra, then do jumping jacks. It turned out that I was actually one of the fortunate ones: 37 women later came forward and reported that he had been more than inappropriate with them as well. He died of a heart attack days before going to court. As for me, I try to only go to woman doctors (particularly for OB/Gyn), and, in the event that it’s not possible, a nurse must be in there as well.

When ever I am required to wear a gown for a medical exam, there is always a female assistant in the room while the male doctor examines me.

There are several instances among my relatives where the oldest kid is over 15 years older than the youngest kid.

About the comments which talk about the atrocious treatments people received in England or in Canada, or on the US Medicare, as told to them by their relatives or friends. I’d like to say that there are incompetent doctors everywhere, even in the US, even if you pay through the nose you will get a doctor who over-prescribes or wrongly-prescribes or keeps you waiting for hours. Just now it comes to light that even the “best” doctors have over prescribed opioids for the past 30+ years and have caused the present addiction problems country wide. And yet those doctors are considered “the best” in their fields and here we are today…

    .

Yes, I would take socialized medical care any time. Of all the western countries, US is the only one which still insists on the business model for medical care. Might I remind you that the people who balk at socialized medicine the loudest, the lawmakers, are the very ones who voted themselves the very best that my tax money pays for, and they are covered until death, even if they are not re-elected….so why can’t I have the same???

I’ll leave the gown vs naked debate to you all. I just thought it was funny when she fainted over a faint possibility. :-)

“There’s a faint possibility.” Then Elly faints for the punchline. Other possibilities considered by Lynn were:

“I would not sweat it.” Then Elly starts sweating profusely for the punchline.

“It would not be unexpected.” Then Elly ponders the terrible pun the doctor made.

“You could be just under the weather.” Then we see Elly in a rain storm.

“It’s nothing to be sneezed at.” Then Elly sneezes.

“I have not exhausted all the possibilities.” Then Elly leans over in exhaustion.

“I might be able to cough up an answer.” Then Elly coughs.
