I don’t understand the concept of decaffeinated coffee. Do you drink dry water? dewaterized water? water without H2O? It’s the same with coffee. Nobody drinks coffee for its taste. It’s a sacrifice we do to get the caffeine. If you take the caffeine away, it’s like having an injection without the vaccine. It hurts you and it does you no good. What the point of that??? :D
Standing mid-watches (12-4AM) aboard ship at sea, there was plenty of coffee available, but no cream or sugar. I learned to drink, (and love) coffee black, no sugar. I can even SMELL sugar in a cup. Coffee- the ubiquitous Navy fluid.
I recall a strip a few years ago where the child asks the parent what is a placebo. The parent replied that it’s something that you think is medicine, but it really isn’t. To which the child replies “that explains decaffeinated coffee.”
My brother-in-law announced very indignity to my mother that he would NEVER drink decaffeinated coffee. To which Mom answered, “You’ve been drinking it here for five years.” I’m not fond of coffee, but will drink it to be sociable.
I only drink caffed coffee in the a.m. otherwise awake most of the night. Iced coffee, black is great. Decaf tea tastes very different so everything is caffine with me-only in the a.m.

Does it smell like a box of All-Bran (the box itself) that has gotten wet and then heated up?

My doc told me to only drink two cups a day. But I switched to half-caf, so I can drink four cups.

Coffee in Panama actually Boquete was best coffee I have ever tasted. We brought back several bags that was grown on plantation where we were staying.

I don’t taste a difference, but my heart knows when there’s caffeine in it. My heart rate jumps to about 150 bpm while I’m sitting still.

The big deal is whether he’ll be awake at work or asleep on the job.
