Im pulling the switch and saving the 5 but Cow does have a valid point .

No, because I don’t work for the railroad so I don’t have the key one needs to be able to use the switch.

This is an ethics thought exercise known as ‘The Trolley Problem’. In some versions, the person alone on the track is someone close to you.
Disclaimer: I didn’t learn this from studying ethics, but from an episode of “The Good Place”. However, it’s a very real thing, first posited by Judith Jarvis Thomson (I looked that part up).
