When you hear the same excuses and sob stories over and over knowing that most of it is lies and if turned loose will be right back in court in a short time it is easy to become jaded. I have been on jury duty at least 12 times and I can almost quote the testimony and closing arguments for a DUI case. The first time you hear a DUI case it will almost break your heart and want to fire the cops. The second time you start to question what you are hearing. The third time you realize that it is all and act by the lawyers to get his client off. Our court system is little more than a game between lawyers with each trying to beat the other. As bad as it is no one seems to have come up with a better solution.

Well, just about the quality and enthusiasm and professionalism of a court-assigned lawyer.
To be fair, the folks in “the system” (defense lawyers, judges, POs, even cops) are pretty jaded for dang good reason.
