Hmm. The only clues thus far are the drinking glass and the powder found the other day. Unless we’re to infer guilt from the conversations yesterday and today.
4th panel Tracy looks like some kind of robo cop and 5th panel [neat] contrasty shot has Friday’s mouth way open for what looks like a matter of fact ‘standard volume’ statement. Are these people mouth breathers ?
I think the only thing we learned today is that Kassie, with her somewhat see-through dress is kind of management or at least came to town with Friday and the other three, including the victim are locals, hired for the shoot. I apologize in advance if it seems like I’m just repeating something obvious.
If this bothers Tracy some, just imagine one at a Furry convention. Undertakers Convention. There was one CSI when some had been asphyxiated by Carbon Dioxide.
In looking up the old “Friday Foster” strip I also stumbled on the movie poster for the movie version starring Pam Grier! I’ve never seen the movie but recognized the image as I’ve been a casual fan of hers since “Foxy Brown”. Just didn’t make the connection. As for the strip, I can’t get a good feel for the story quality but Jorge Longarón’s artwork is excellent!
As an aside, I see Jim Lawrence had something to do with Joe Palooka. A favorite strip of mine long ago. There is a mountain in Pennsylvania named after Joe Palooka as Ham Fisher was from the area.
If you want to see more of Andrew Pepoy’s art, Archie Comics just released a trade collection of Katy Keene stories, which contains a number of stories illustrated by Pepoy—check with your local comics store, or your local bookstore / Barnes and Noble / Amazon.
By my reckoning, theres two legit suspects… kassie and olivia.. francesca was being photographed by Friday
I’m thinking it was Kassie.. who had a “secret past” with Clara and jealous of her getting “the lion’s share” of the shoot… which certainly shows motive to me
Sam is missing out on a beautiful interrogation opportunity. Olivia is too angry for someone trying to avoid suspicion. Her clinched fist says “red herring.” Francesca was being photographed when the body was discovered. This does not necessarily clear her, but makes it unlikely she did the deed. It can’t be Friday, as she is an established “good” character. Kassie let slip a motive today, making her the most likely to have murdered Clara.
4th panel Friday looks to be in a state of shock. What is so shocking about working in Tracy’s city, other than the prospect she could have gone over to the dark side and is now “in the spotlight” ?
On the one hand, we’ve learned quite a bit today. The hot-tempered babe in the two-piece is Olivia, to go along with Francesca and the late Clara Clearwater as the three local models hired by Friday and her assistant, Kassie (hence, she is not wearing a bathing suit like the models). And Clara was getting the equivalent of top billing, sure to excite jealousy.
On the other hand, we do not seem to have made much progress toward solving the murder, though we have only a narrow pool of suspects, just three, as Olivia pointed out (2nd wide panel, main row 1).
So, what clue or revelation will break the case? There is a whole week to go yet in this MM….

You’re not based in my city now, are you? Is this Tracy’s way of saying, Am I gonna have to do “parlor game” crimes like this from now on?

do I take it that the Jim Lawrence mentioned is the writer who wrote some Dr. Strange stories in STRANGE TALES in 1967 for Marvel?

That swim suit in panel 2 is very unusual, do not know if I like it or not!

Go ahead, Olivia; attack her in front of the cop. See how that works.

If this was a normal storyline, and not a Minit Mystery, I’d bet Tracy would send in Lizz to work undercover as a model.
frequency270 about 5 years ago
We’re not going to have this Minit Mystery end with Tracy ripping off a wig, proclaiming, “But she’s a MAN, baby!”, are we?

The actor who is playing Tracy, looks to be constipated, maybe that’s why he is stiff as a corpse.
