    She must have had a safety harness holding her stationary. The strain on her scalp would still be pretty painful, though. It would make more sense to cut her hair shorter and make a rope from the excess.

    Or, we go the alternate route, and the “imprisoned princess” is just a lure to entrap princes for the tower to eat. Either way is good.

    Clearly there was an increase in the hair in another part of her anatomy that helped maintain her center of balance. The story must have been bowdlerized so as not to upset the sensibilities of prudes.

    Rapunzel is a predator, she uses sticky strands to capture unwary humans. Encased in her tower shaped shell she slowly travels across the land consuming those foolish enough to ignore the obvious signs of danger.
