“A Dog’s Purpose” by Bruce W. Cameron, a great book and movie. The sequel “A Dog’s Journey” is also a great book and movie. There is yet one more “A Dog’s Promise” which I have on hold at the library, these books are really great and yes tear jerkers. Another book by the same author is “A Dog’s Way Home” but the first three are sequels. A dog named Bailey becomes Ethan’s dog, and Bailey follows Ethan through his life. When Bailey dies he’s reincarnated into another dog, then yet another til the end of Ethan’s life. Then he becomes the dog of Ethan’s step-granddaughter CJ and also follows her through several lifetimes. Sometimes he’s female, and different breeds of dogs but his spirit travels through all these dogs. These books (and films) are well worth reading and watching. I love them.
You-All should Check Out and Watch " HACHI: A Dog’s Tale " https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hachi:A_Dog%27sTale " ( June 8, 2009 with Richard Gere – A Real Good but Sad Movie about the Unconditional Bond and Commitment/ Dedication between a Man and His Dog. The Love and Devotion all Based on a TRUE STORY ! ) It Brought Tears Too My and My Wife’s Eyes ! As did the 1957 movie “Old Yeller”. :-)
Here is a link to the Actuall Dog “Hachiko” upon which the Movie “HACHI:A Dog’s Tale” was Based. " https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hachik%C5%8D " Well worth a Watch.

I do the same thing with my cat, really. I don’t have kids, so she’s my baby.
