ACTUALLY, and hear me out, that might be an interesting movie.
Shelob was a child of the Ungoliant, and lived in Beleriand before the end of the First Age. Shelob’s “adventures” could coincide with MANY events of Middle Earth, told from a very ancillary perspective.
She might have fought with Beren as he fled into Doriath.
She would have needed to flee Beleriand when it was sunk into the Sea.
She would have seen all of Middle Earth, crossing it at the beginning of the Second Age.
She would have witnessed the coming of Sauron to Mordor, and potentially all the major events that happened there in the Second and Third Ages.
Might not make for a great blockbuster, but could be a decent student project.
Tolkien had arachnophobia; he was bitten by a tarantula as a child in South Africa. As a writer, he made use of it, just as Rowling made use of her clinical depression when creating the Dementors. True writers throw everything into the hopper of the Imagination Machine.

If Lio’s spider doesn’t get the part, there’s always as Aragog in some “Harry Potter” film.

Is Lio indestructible or does he taste bad?

That creature is getting a little presumptuous with the sunglasses already.

I REALLY hope that this IS a joke.

Those spiders went extinct. Similar problem as caused the demise of the Ents.
There were no Helobs left after the last hunting party disappeared.

A completely useless piece of information: “Lob” is Old English for “Spider.” Her name is just “She-Spider.”

If he gets the role, will Lio have to tag along as his handler for the filming?

If you don’t like spiders, stay out of Cirith Ungol.

Shouldn’t spider sunglasses have like 10 lenses, one for each eye?

Does Lio live in Orc land?

Ok, maybe he DID feed the fly/human hybrid to the spider the other day.

From Toho Studios: Shelob vs. Mothra. (You just know Godzilla will show up too.)

Aaaayyyyyeeee! I’m arachnophobic. Always have to skip over the part about Shelob when reading LOTR. The Hobbit has some god-awful nasty spiders also.

Don’t get your hopes up prematurely, Lio. It’s only an audition. Does your big pal actually have any acting talent?
